Who's Who in the Internet? I mean SCALED and NORMALIZED Web.

Differences between the two separate tools could be due to how Google "normalizes" search data. The Web site for Google's new tool notes that "just because two regions show the same percentage for a particular search term doesn't mean that their absolute search volumes are the same. Data from these two regions - with significant differences in search volumes - can be compared equally because the data has been normalized by the total traffic from each respective region."

Tuomarien kirjassa Hän selvitti asioita puhuvan aasin kautta, pelkällä aasin leukaluulla, vasurilla, trumpetilla, soihduilla ja saviruukuilla, 300 miehen avulla armeijaa vastaan, naisen avulla, telttavaarnalla, myllynkivellä, orjantappuralla contra seetripuulla, nasiiri-playboyn kautta, veljiänsä päätä lyhyemmän viinikuurnassa viljaa puivan pelokkaan pikkuveljen avulla - ja tuli hännän alla juoksevilla ketuilla, mistä nimi Firefox.

Announcing Google Insights for Search

In June, we updated Google Trends with numbers and the ability to download results to a spreadsheet. We received a lot of great feedback from agencies and advertisers on how they're using the new version; from identifying new growth markets to optimizing their Google AdWords campaigns.

We have Elan Dekel and Niv Efron to tell us about a new tool for fans of Google Trends:

Today, we're launching Google Insights for Search, a new product designed with the advertiser in mind. It provides more flexibility and functionality for advertisers and marketers to understand search behavior, and adds some cool new features like a world heat map to graphically display search volume and regional interest.

Like Google Trends, you can just type in a search term to see search volume patterns over time, as well as the top related and rising searches. You’ll also have the ability to compare search volume trends across multiple search terms, categories (commonly referred to as verticals), geographic regions, or specific time ranges.

You can get started at the Google Insights for Search homepage, and, just a note, you'll need to sign into your Google account to see numbers or download results to a spreadsheet. You can also take a look at more examples of how you can use Google Insights for Search. As always, we love to hear your feedback about the tool and the insights you discover.

How is the data scaled?

The data is displayed on a scale of 0 to 100, after normalization; each point on the graph has been divided by the highest point, or 100.

For example, let's suppose that interest for the term skiing surged in the month of November in Sweden. Our system designates that peak as 100. Now let's suppose that interest decreased significantly in December, where the next highest peak was approximately half of what it was in November. That peak would then be designated as 50, and so on.

Is the data normalized?

Yes. All the results in Google Insights for Search are normalized, which means that we've divided the sets of data by a common variable to cancel out the variable's effect on the data. Doing so allows the underlying characteristics of the data sets to be compared. If we didn't normalize the results and displayed the absolute rankings instead, data from regions generating the most search volume would always be ranked high.

Let's consider the following examples to highlight some of the key points of normalization:

*Canada and Fiji show the same percentages for the term 'hotel.' Does this mean that they have the same amount of search volume for that term?

Just because two regions show the same percentage for a particular term doesn't mean that their absolute search volumes are the same. Data from these two regions - with significant differences in search volumes - can be compared equally because the data has been normalized by the total traffic from each respective region. So, we can assume that users in both Fiji and Canada are equally likely to search for the term hotel.

*New York doesn't appear on the list for the term 'haircut.' Does this mean that people in New York don't search for this term at all?

Remember, Google Insights for Search shows the likelihood of users in a particular area to search for a term on Google on a relative basis. So, just because New York isn't on the top regions list for haircut doesn't necessarily mean that people there don't search for that term at all. Consider the following scenarios. It could be that people in New York:

  • don't use Google to find a barber or hair salon
  • use a different term for haircut-related searches
  • search for so many other topics unrelated to haircuts, that searches for haircut comprise a small portion of the search volume from New York as compared to other regions

How many search terms can I compare at one time?

You can compare up to five search terms or groupings at one time, with up to 25 search terms in each grouping (use the plus sign to create a grouping). Click + Add search term to add a search term or a grouping; to remove a search term, click the x next to it.

Here's an example:

  • pen + pencil + paper (grouping 1)
  • stapler + tape + notebook + ruler (grouping 2)
  • eraser + paper clip (grouping 3)

What are search term matching options?

There are several matching options, each specifying a different way for search queries to be examined. Let's take a look at the following examples illustrating the different options:

  • Example: tennis shoes
Results can include searches containing both tennis and shoes, in any order, and possibly along with other terms. However, this type of matching doesn't include plural or singular forms of your search terms, or synonyms.

  • Example: "tennis racquet"
Results can include searches containing tennis racquet in that specific order, but may also include words before or after the phrase, such as red tennis racquet or tennis racquet cover.

  • Example: tennis + squash
Results can include searches containing tennis or squash.

  • Example: racket + "tennis shoes"
Results can include searches containing racket or tennis shoes.

  • Example: tennis - shoes
Results include searches containing tennis but not shoes.

  • Example: racket "tennis shoes"
Results include searches containing racket and tennis shoes.

Does a downward line indicate lower search volume?

No. A downward trending line doesn't necessarily mean that the absolute traffic for a search term is decreasing - only that its popularity is decreasing. For example, let's suppose that Melbourne has 1000 internet users, and 500 of them (or 50% of internet users in Melbourne) searched for the term spring festival in April. In May, 500 more internet users moved to Melbourne, but none of them knew about the spring festival, so no one out of that group searched for that term. So even though there was a total of 1500 internet users in Melbourne, only 500 total (or 33% of the total number of internet users) searched for spring festival; although there was significantly more absolute search volume for that term, its popularity actually decreased percentage-wise.

What does a flat line on the graph indicate?

A flat line indicates that there may not be enough search volume for your term to be reflected on the graph; it doesn't mean that your term doesn't have any search volume at all. Keep in mind that Insights for Search only displays data for terms with search volumes that surpass a certain threshold.

Breakout

When you see this term listed instead of an actual percentage (for Rising Searches), it means that the search term has experienced a change in growth greater than 5000%.

Category

This term refers to a classification of industries or markets; it's also commonly referred to as a vertical. For example, the Entertainment/Music category may include music genres, recording artists, recordings, performances, instruments, and music-related merchandise.

Filter

This term refers to the method by which you can narrow down your search. Depending on which comparison parameter you choose - location, search term, or time range - different filters can be applied.

Top searches

These search terms have the highest level of interest, and are related to the search term, category, or country/territory you've chosen.

What are rising searches?

Rising searches highlight searches that have experienced significant growth in a given time period, with respect to the preceding time period. So if you're comparing data for a search term during 2006, the time period serving as the basis of comparison is 2005. Similarly, if you're comparing searches for that term during May of 2006, the basis of comparison is April of 2006. When you designate 2004 as the time range, the basis of comparison is the first available month of data (which in most cases is January 2004). If you select 2004 - present as the time range, our system will compare 2004's data with all the data from 2004 to the current date. When you input a specific search term, you'll see a list of the top rising searches related to that term based on contextual matching. For example, if you input news, the list of rising searches may not only include a popular TV news station or an online newspaper, but they may also include a news blog or even a social networking site that frequently appeared in news stories during the time period you're examining. Keep in mind that top searches are also automatically categorized, so some errors in classification may exist. When you see Breakout listed instead of an actual percentage, it means that the search term has experienced a change in growth greater than 5000%.
Please note that Insights for Search applies a filter for search terms that may be explicitly sexual. No filter is 100% accurate, but these filters should eliminate most inappropriate material. Since some material may occasionally not be filtered out in the rising searches, please contact us if you find offensive content, and we'll investigate it. If you want search volume numbers, AdWords Keyword Tool should still be your #1 choice. Google Insights for Search doesn’t display such info. Their data is based on relative numbers, not on absolute ones.

AdWords or Insights for Search?

AdWords Keyword Tool? Want to bet? Google Insights for Search is here.

With Google Insights for Search you can not only analyse regional trends — which are shown in maps for easier visualisation — but also view other data, such as related search terms and rising searches. Besides, this new keyword popularity tool lets you choose the desired comparison criteria: search terms (the traditional option on Google Trends), locations or time ranges.

Starting words: "Today, we’re launching Google Insights for Search, a new product designed with the advertiser in mind. It provides more flexibility and functionality for advertisers and marketers to understand search behavior, and adds some cool new features like a world heat map to graphically display search volume and regional interest."

Comparisons Possible Over Time And Region

Although the tool was created with advertisers and marketers in mind, Insights for Search has allowed anyone with a Google account to research and compare search terms from the world's most used search engine site, and to see how they stack up over time, in various geographic regions, and in specific categories.

In July Google began sharing popularity information for the keywords users of its search engine look for, in an addition to its popular AdWords online ad management program. That search volume data included the approximate number of times keywords were entered using the Google search engine or on the company's network of partner Web sites.

Insights for Search expands on that offering, and on Google's June update to its Google Trends search query analysis tool, which for the first time allowed people to see the popularity of Web sites and some information on how people may be finding them through its search engine.

A list similar to one available in Google's Hot Trends utility, which shows the 100 fastest-rising search queries conducted in the United States daily, is present in Insights for Search, showing search terms whose search volume and popularity are on the rise. A list of related search terms is also shown.

Some analysts saw the move opening up more of Google's vast search engine database as an opportunity for researchers in many fields, such as economics, medicine, sociology, and finance.

Choosing advertising messages

Insights can help you determine which messages resonate best. For example, an automobile manufacturer may be unsure of whether it should highlight fuel efficiency, safety, or engine performance to market a new car model.

When the three features are entered into Insights, we can see that there's a considerable amount of interest in car safety. With this information, the manufacturer may want to consider incorporating car safety into its marketing strategy.

Examining seasonality

Insights can be used to determine seasonality. For example, a ski resort may want to find out when people search for ski-related terms most often.

In this example, the same time frame (June through May) is being compared across several years.

The results are fairly consistent throughout the years: interest picks up in August and peaks in December and January. With this information, the ski resort can anticipate demand and make informed decisions about the appropriate allocation of everything from its advertising budget to staffing to resort resources.

Creating brand associations

Insights can be a helpful tool in creating brand associations. Take, for example, an advertising agency that needs to build a compelling advertising campaign for its client, a computer hardware company. The agency needs to know what competing brands are doing: how should they position their client's product against them?

When comparing laptops or notebook, it's useful to apply the Category filter, whereby the data will be narrowed down to just Computers & Electronics.

Carefully examining the resulting top related searches and the rising searches can help the agency better understand competitors' offers, thereby creating a campaign to differentiate their client's brand.

Entering new markets

Insights can be useful in determining a new market. A wine distributor may be looking to expand into new markets. By entering in wine + vino, and comparing the data across multiple countries, such as Argentina, Mexico, Spain, and Venezuela, the distributor can get a sense of where interest is more prevalent.

The resulting graph indicates greater interest in Spain and Argentina. Choosing Spain, for example, the distributor can examine the subregions and consider centralizing distribution in the La Rioja region, where interest appears to be the highest.

Google Health - Weaver - Googlen Terveysmittari...

Exportissa on 14 firmaa diagnooseja antamaan.

MikroPC.net - ti 20.5.2008 klo 7:59

Hakujätti Googlen aluevaltaus terveydenhoitomarkkinoille on alkanut.

Google Chrome -selain

Google Chrome browser

http://www.itviikko.fi/tietoturva/2008/09/03/googlen-selain-vie-oikeutesi/200822886/7

Aika uskomattoman periaatteellinen oikeuspykälä tuntuu olevan. Jos siis tekee duunia kotoa käsin, niin en neuvoisi käyttämään ainakaan englanninkielisessä tekstissä Googlen omaa selainta, silloin luovuttaa kaikki oikeudet Googlelle selaimen kautta käytetyissä ohjelmissa (webmail, blogi, keskustelu, chat, you name it).

Firefox on minusta alkanut kakoa vaarallisen oloisesti itse käyttämissäni sovelluksissa. Kun IE:ssä on markkinoilla vain 10 versiota - käytännössä tasan 2 - on eräälläkin sivustolla käyty viimeisen vuoden aikana kaikilla oheisilla sillisalaatti-Firefox-versioilla. No kidding, yhteensä 53 KPL eri Tulikettu-versiota juoksemassa tuli hännässään pitkin filistealaisten viljapeltoja. Nomen est omen:

About Google Health

Google Health allows you to store and manage all of your health information in one central place. And it's completely free. All you need to get started is a Google username and password.

Google believes that you own your medical records and should have easy access to them. The way we see it, it's your information; why shouldn't you control it?

·                                 Keep your doctors up-to-date

·                                 Stop filling out the same paperwork every time you see a new doctor

·                                 Avoid getting the same lab tests done over and over again because your doctor cannot get copies of your latest results

·                                 Don't lose your medical records because of a move, change in jobs or health insurance

With Google Health, you manage your health information — not your health insurance plan or your employer. You can access your information anywhere, at any time.

It's safe and secure

We believe that your health information belongs to you, and you should decide how much you share and whom you share it with. We will never sell your data. We store your information securely and privately. Check out our privacy policy to learn more.

You are in control — you choose what you want to share and what you want to keep private.

 For Partners

Google is looking for strategic partners who can help our users get access to their medical records and prescription history and do a better job of managing their health needs.

We are currently working with several partners in the healthcare industry. Examples include: Large retail pharmacy chains, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), laboratory and diagnostic companies, hospitals, medical clinics and health centers, medical groups, doctor offices, health insurance companies, electronic medical record (EMR) application companies, personal health record (PHR) application companies, disease management companies, medical device companies and retail clinics.

To learn more about the Google Health technical platform, and how you can integrate with Google Health, check out our APIs.

Why partner with Google Health?

Many leading providers in the healthcare industry and the companies that provide solutions to them are trying to make healthcare safer and more efficient. One way to do this is by helping patients and doctors to get easy access medical data.

By integrating with Google Health, you help make medical data follow the patient where ever he or she goes and this in turn helps doctors and other caregivers do a better job of delivering quality care.

How do our users find out about you as a partner?

If you have integrated with Google Health, our users can learn about you in the following ways:

1.                               They can go to the "Import Medical Records" link on their Google Health homepage and see a list of partners who are integrated with Google Health.

2.                               They can go to "Explore Online Health Services" link and browse a directory of third party services that have integrated with Google Health.

Google Health Privacy Policy

The Google Privacy Policy describes how Google treats personal information when you use Google's products, including information provided when you use Google Health. In addition, the following describes our privacy practices that are specific to Google Health, a service that helps you store and organize your personal health information.

You are in control of your information

1.                               You control who can access your personal health information. By default, you are the only user who can view and edit your information. If you choose to, you can share your information with others.

2.                               Google will not sell, rent, or share your information (identified or de-identified) without your explicit consent, except in the limited situations described in the Google Privacy Policy, such as when Google believes it is required to do so by law.

3.                               You can completely delete your information at any time. Such deletions will take immediate effect in your account, and backup copies of deleted information may persist for a short time. Since deleted data will not be restored, you may want to print information before deleting it.

How Google uses your information

1.                               To store your information in Google Health, you will need a Google Account. When you create a Google Account, Google asks for your email address and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized access. You can use an existing Google Account or create a new Google Account specifically for this purpose.

2.                               Google's servers automatically record log information about your use of Google Health (such as number of sign-ins and number of times a link was clicked). This information is temporarily stored in association with your Google Account for two weeks, at which point it is aggregated with other data and is no longer associated with your account. The log information will be used to operate and improve the service and will not be correlated with your use of other Google services.

3.                               Google will use aggregate data to publish trend statistics and associations. For example, Google might publish trend data similar to what is published in Google Trends. None of this data can be used to personally identify an individual.

4.                               Certain features of Google Health can be used in conjunction with other Google products, and those features may share information to provide a better user experience and to improve the quality of our services. For example, Google Health can help you save your doctors’ contact information into your Google Contact List.

Sharing your information with people and services you trust

1.                               If you share your information with others, you can view a list of who has access to your information and you can revoke sharing privileges at any time. When you revoke someone’s ability to read your health information, that party will no longer be able to read your information, but may have already seen or may retain a copy of the information.

2.                               Google Health contains a directory of third-party websites that are capable of securely sending information to Google Health. These websites (which may include your medical provider) may give more information about certain conditions or extend the functionality of Google Health in other ways. By creating a link to these websites, you give them permission to send you information such as medical records, prescription histories, or test reports.

3.                               You can approve access for some of these websites to view your health information. If a website accesses your health information and stores a copy of your information, that copy will be governed by that website’s privacy policy. Others at that facility – like an on-call doctor – may be able to view your information. Google is not responsible for the content, performance, or privacy policies of third-party websites.

4.                               Some of these third-party websites will be covered by federal and state health privacy laws (such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or “HIPAA”), and those laws will govern how they may use and share your information. As a result, you must authorize these providers to send information to your Google Health account. With that authorization, you also give them permission to send certain types of health information (such as mental health records) that are protected by federal and state laws and require special authorization. When you ask Google to send your health information to others, you will also be giving Google permission to send those certain types of health information.

5.                               All third-party websites listed in the directory are contractually required to abide by the Google Health Developer Policies, which establish strict privacy standards for how they collect, use, or share your information.

Google may make third-party services available through Google Health. In order to use a specific service, you may choose to allow the third-party service provider to retrieve, provide, and/or modify health and other information in your account or otherwise share your information with the service provider. Once you enable a specific third-party service provider to access your account, the service provider may continue to access your account until you affirmatively disable access. Third-party service providers include both health care providers and other entities. It is your sole responsibility to review and approve each such third-party service before sharing your information through or otherwise accessing it.

Google may screen, modify, refuse, or remove certain content or third-party services, but is not responsible for and does not endorse any third-party content or services. Google further does not endorse any third-party service providers, other health care providers, products, services, opinions, or web sites accessed through Google Health.

USE OF THESE SERVICES AND RELIANCE ON THIS CONTENT IS SOLELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. GOOGLE MAY NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF ANY THIRD-PARTY SERVICE OR CONTENT. Providers of these third-party services and/or content are Google's "Licensors".

7. Google Proprietary Rights

Google and its Licensors own all proprietary rights to Google Health. Google gives you a personal, revocable, non-assignable, and non-exclusive license to use Google Health.

8. Modification and Termination of Google Health

Google may place limits on, modify, suspend or terminate Google Health generally, and may suspend or terminate your use of Google Health if you fail to comply with this agreement. This suspension or termination may delete your information, files, and other previously available content. If Google terminates Google Health or your use of Google Health, this agreement will also terminate, but Sections 3, 5, 7, 8, and 10-13 shall continue to be effective after this agreement is terminated.

9. Changes to this Agreement

Google may change this agreement and will post the modified agreement at https://www.google.com/health/html/terms.html. If you do not agree to the modified agreement, you should stop using Google Health. Your continued use of Google Health after the date the modified agreement is posted will constitute your acceptance of the modified agreement.

10. Indemnification

You will defend or settle any third-party claim against Google, any third party Google Health feature providers, or any of Google's other licensors arising out of or related to your use of Google Health.

11. Exclusion of Warranties

NEITHER GOOGLE NOR ANY OF GOOGLE'S LICENSORS MAKE ANY EXPRESS WARRANTIES, AND EACH OF THEM DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. If there is any conflict between this agreement and a signed written agreement between you and Google related to Google Health, the signed written agreement will control.

Google's Licensors may be third party beneficiaries to this agreement. There are no other third party beneficiaries to this agreement. The parties are independent contractors, and nothing in this agreement creates an agency, partnership, or joint venture.

If Google provides you with a translation of the English language version of this agreement, the English language version of this agreement will control if there is any conflict.

Failure to enforce any provision will not constitute a waiver of that provision. If any provision is found unenforceable, it and any related provisions will be interpreted to best accomplish the unenforceable provision's essential purpose.

This agreement is governed by California law, excluding California's choice-of-law rules. THE EXCLUSIVE VENUE FOR ANY DISPUTE RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT IS SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.

NEITHER GOOGLE NOR ANY OF GOOGLE'S LICENSORS MAKE ANY WARRANTY THAT THE CONTENT IN GOOGLE HEALTH SATISFIES GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS REQUIRING DISCLOSURE IF INFORMATION ON PRESCRIPTION DRUG PRODUCTS.  CONTENT IN GOOGLE HEALTH IS DEVELOPED FOR USE IN THE UNITED STATES, AND NEITHER GOOGLE NOR ANY OF GOOGLE'S LICENSORS MAKE ANY REPRESENTATION CONCERNING THE CONTENT WHEN USED IN ANY OTHER COUNTRY.

12. Limitation of Liability

NEITHER YOU NOR GOOGLE OR ANY OF ITS LICENSORS MAY BE HELD LIABLE UNDER THIS AGREEMENT FOR ANY DAMAGES OTHER THAN DIRECT DAMAGES, EVEN IF THE PARTY KNOWS OR SHOULD KNOW THAT OTHER DAMAGES ARE POSSIBLE OR THAT DIRECT DAMAGES ARE NOT A SATISFACTORY REMEDY. THE LIMITATIONS IN THIS SECTION APPLY TO YOU ONLY TO THE EXTENT THEY ARE LAWFUL IN YOUR JURISDICTION.

NEITHER YOU NOR GOOGLE OR ANY OF ITS LICENSORS MAY BE HELD LIABLE UNDER THIS AGREEMENT FOR MORE THAN $1,000.

The limitations of liability in this Section do not apply to breaches of intellectual property provisions or indemnification obligations.

13. General Legal Terms

If you have not signed a separate written agreement with Google related to Google Health, this agreement is the entire agreement between you and Google related to Google Health, replacing any prior agreements.

YOU AND GOOGLE CONSENT TO THE PERSONAL JURISDICTION OF THESE COURTS. Nothing in this agreement limits either party's ability to seek equitable relief.

Ajan lyhyt hysteria.

ûMÿMû

If Gravitation would stop to exist NOW! When would it be seen in a remote star?

 Straight via tangentia.

Light years are not a measure of time or history, but of distance.

Even the speed of light may not be constant, after all, and may decay asymptotically to 300 000 km/s.

In contrast to the Photon, the "Graviton" has not been even found yet. It is so fast. The short hystery of time.
